ANTM Recap C24/E12: Beauty is a Comeback

March 30, 2018 Susan
Final Four Freakin'

Final Four Freakin'

Forget March Madness. This is the only Final Four that matters. We're down to Rio, Khrystyana, Kyla, and Shanice. Let's do this.

Tyra Mail is here, and Ty Ty says it’s throwback week. Fans voted on social media for their favorite top model challenge from previous cycles. The models try to guess what it could be and recall a few of them – the walk-down-the-building runway and the roaches that Jade Cole kissed. Oh, Jade. Let’s take a moment to remember Jade:

ICONIC.

ICONIC.

When the models arrive for the challenge, Ashley Graham tells them it will be a “fierce throwback” to the bubble runway challenge from Cycle 16. It didn’t go well in Cycle 16. They’re literally walking in big plastic bubbles down a nine-inch wide runway. It actually looks super difficult.

Now for the twist. Walking in the runway show with the final four will be all of the eliminated models. AND by the end of the week, one of those comeback models will replace one of the original final four. It’s clear we’re about to see a test of Jeana and Rio’s friendship because Rio is having some mixed feelings that Jeana is back because she feels Jeana is her biggest competition.

Her highlight is on point tho.

Her highlight is on point tho.

The designer for this show is Kaimin, and then theme is “Future of Fashion.” She wants powerful walks because the line is “extravagant.” From the runway challenge, four comebackers will move back into the house temporarily, and by the end of the week, one will stay.

Stacey McKenzie is backstage with the models yelling at them to take bigger steps because everyone is legit walking in baby steps on their toes like they’re trying to sneak out of their parents’ house at night. Stacey’s like, “Act like you’re not in a damn bubble!” Thanks, Stacey. Good advice.

Of the original final four, Rio, Khrystyana, and Shanice all struggle. Kyla is the only one who does really well.

A fall would have been pretty epic, tbh.

A fall would have been pretty epic, tbh.

Of the comebackers, Erin and Jeana kill it. Also, apparently Christina’s walk is good? I’m confused because in my notes I actually wrote down, “Christina is walking like a fucking antelope.” But I guess that’s good runway? Idk, I’m not a model.

The four comebackers temporarily moving back into the house are: Erin, Liberty, Christina, and Jeana.

The original final four are showing some major shade toward the comebackers, but Rio is especially pissed. They’re all upset that they’ve worked so hard to secure these spots and someone’s just going to replace one of them outright. Fair enough. Rio: “My eye’s twitching again because it knows.”

Tyra Mail/Selfie Mail! Fans also voted for their favorite photoshoot in ANTM history, and the models will be recreating it. She says, “Don’t let fear kill your dreams.” The girls recall a few of the scarier photoshoots, like the one in China on top of that building. I really wanted to see a recreation of the seven deadly sins shoot from Cycle 4. Still one of my favorites ever.

Because we got some teasers earlier in the week, I know that they’re actually going to recreate the diamonds-and-spiders photo shoot from Cycle 3. They will be wearing millions of dollars in jewelry and, of course, a tarantula. Plus, they’ll be posing with the model who made this photoshoot iconic: Eva “The Diva” Marcille, the winner of Cycle 3. Remember this FIRE photo?

I mean, come on. FIRE.

I mean, come on. FIRE.

OH, and Nigel Barker is the photographer. Throwback week for the win! Eva and Nigel Bahkaaah are ageless gods.

In addition to posing with Eva, the models will be paired up with another model. Each group is one of the original final four paired with one of the comebackers.

We will all work it for Nigel let's be serious.

We will all work it for Nigel let's be serious.

Liberty and Kyla are together. Their shoot goes well. As much as I don’t like Liberty, she looks fantastic here.

Erin and Khrystyana are together, and shit is rough. Erin has tears in her eyes the entire time. Nigel tells her to remember to model, but she’s clearly way past that. Khrystyana is pissed because she got her shot early and Erin is just majorly fucking this up.

Shanice and Christina are paired, much to Shanice’s chagrin. Shanice is having major trouble with the tarantula. Eva says “Shanasty is Sha-bye-bye” because she’s performing so poorly. Christina is killing it though. The spider is on her DAMN FACE for most of the shoot. Get it, girl.

Still looking fierce 21 cycles later.

Still looking fierce 21 cycles later.

Finally, Rio and Jeana are partnered. Jeana’s biggest fear is spiders, but she’s determined. “This was my second chance. And I can’t let a spider take that away from me.” The seriousness with which she delivered that line made me giggle. But even better: “I just don’t do anything fuzzy that has more than four legs.” That’s so specific LOL. Anyway, Jeana SLAYS this shoot. The spider is on her bald head at one point, and it looks baller. Drew is trolling Rio to get her to perform: “Own this picture because right now you’re losing.”

Panel!

Final Four plus Comebackers. Also Jeana's outfit.

Final Four plus Comebackers. Also Jeana's outfit.

Jeana is really here to get shit done, and I think she has a good shot. “I’m not just here to take one spot. I’m here to take all of them.” Yas, girl.

Shanice and Christina:  Ashley loves Christina’s shot, and Law says, “You did not come back to play.” As for Shanice, Law says, “It hurt my feelings so bad that you couldn’t push through it. I would have sent you home at that photoshoot. That’s how much you let me down.” Apparently only 10% of her frames were usable. Eek!

Shanice and Christina. FACE SPIDER

Shanice and Christina. FACE SPIDER

Rio and Jeana: Ashley says, “Jeana, I see royalty. I see supermodel. Law says, “Motha is a savage!” Tyra calls it art and says that Jeana is pulling all the energy in the photo toward her. Drew said Rio just wasn’t giving them anything different.

Jeana and Rio

Jeana and Rio

Kyla and Liberty: Kyla said she loved having the spider on her and felt at peace. Though Liberty looks good, they still say they don’t see a model. Law says, “Liberty does look rich though.” LOL. Tyra says Kyla is “hypnotizing me with those eyes.”

Liberty and Kyla

Liberty and Kyla

Khrystyana and Erin – Drew says it looks like a department store catalog and he can “visuzalize it in my trash now.” DAMNNN. Erin was so scared that it looked awful. Her shot is absolute garbage. Khrystyana’s is just okay.

Erin and Khrystyana

Erin and Khrystyana

It seems like the only original final four model who did better than their counterpart in the photo was Kyla. I’m guessing it will be between Rio and Shanice leaving and Christina or Jeana staying.

Call out order:
Kyla
Khrystyana. THANK GOD. I got scurred.
Bottom 2 of original 4: Shanice and Rio.

The girl. Who is still in the running. Toward becoming. America’s. Next. Top. Model. Is.
SHANICE! Tyra says, “You started at once place, and from week to week to week, we see someone who is improving.” Khrystyana is like WHAT THE FUCK. I’m worried Rio is going to punch someone.

What the f***

What the f***

Now, for the rest of the twist. The girl. Who is coming back. To America’s. Next. Top. Model. Is.
JEANA!

All three of the others are not happy about it. Tyra says her photos is “one of the best photos all cycle.” Hard to disagree. It’s fire.

Whew, y’all. This was stressful. I got worried about my girl K, but she’s all good. See you next week for the Final Four…again.

Yours in #nextlevelfierceness,

Susan
