Last October, Hulu began a horror anthology series called Into the Dark, releasing one “episode” per month. They began with “The Body,” a Halloween themed episode that takes place over one spooky night, but I didn’t start watching until “New Year, New You,” and even then I didn’t fully grasp what the series was about, or why Hulu was producing it. “New Year, New You” follows a group of friends over the course of a New Year’s Eve party as they try to kill an old friend that has become Instagram famous and egotistical. The episodes are long, about an hour and a half, or the length of a short movie. They have good casts and production values, and they’re all campy. Very, very campy. (Spoilers for “Treehouse” to follow)
Riverdale Recap! S3E13: Requiem for a Welterweight
So, we should start by sending out positive vibes to one of the best HPoR - Luke Perry.
Hoping for a swift and full recovery so you’re back to the bananas world of Riverdale soon.
Okay, let’s dive into the ring, shall we? We feel a bit like Archie’s face looked by the end of this episode...

Last week, we got to know the Manu and Kama tribes, and Reem was voted out. However, she didn’t leave the game entirely, instead opting to stay at Edge of Extinction Island, where life seems bad! Colton’s 86th shower in eight episodes
Another episode, another Colton shower to get us in the rose-giving mood.
Why must we see him shower every episode? We get it. He’s clean. He works out. My fiancé nearly yells, “Is he just naked and someone is in there with him filming?!” Welcome aboard, fiancé. You’re gonna see a lot of Colton’s wet chest hair if you stick around for the remaining episodes.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably more than aware that the 91st Academy Awards will be airing this Sunday evening at 8PM EST. The Oscars are always #messy, but this year’s ceremony has already been embroiled in a number of scandals, from its multiple nominations for a film who’s credited director has been accused of sexual assault against a minor, to the controversy surrounding comedian Kevin Hart, who was announced as this year’s host only to drop out shortly thereafter when homophobic tweets of his resurfaced online. Now, we have nobody hosting, a couple of truly Not Good films in the running for best picture, and a Queen tribute to ring in the ceremony, since we all know that The Music of Queen is one of 2019’s greatest cinematic achievements.
Basically, we’re off to a great start.
Looking over my predictions post from last year (which I would link to were it not still living in the archives of our old site, sorry), I am not at all surprised to see that I correctly predicted exactly half of the categories (6/12). For those playing along, that’s a 50% success rate, which is also considered an F. So, you know — maybe don’t bet a lot of money on my picks?

On this episode of The Bachelor, two boring white dudes sit down at a bar in Denver to swap meaningless platitudes about following their guts, their greatest fears, and of course, being on the show for the right reasons. It was quite a riveting two hours of television, and Susan and Emily are here to break it all down for you. Let’s begin!
Emily: It’s the best day of the week! Bachelor recap day! Welcome back everyone for another week of The Bachelor where I just sit here and hope that Tayshia will be the next Bachelorette. Miracles do happen. But first we have to get through this season...
Read more5 Steps to Get Through Character Death (in TTRPGs)
My best boy, Vektro Velikov, from our long-running D&D campaign. (Art by @AlexielApril ! She is marvelous—go find her!)
Death is difficult, if not impossible, to deal with, and I’m not sure that you ever “get over” losing a loved one--nor do I profess to have experience in it. What I do have experience in is character death.
Playing tabletop role playing games (or TTRPGS), it’s inevitable that characters die. After all, they’re adventurers, or supernatural creatures, or superheroes, or some combination of those (depending on what system you’re playing). It’s normal that they’d burn bright and then die quickly, but that doesn’t make it easier.
Survivor: Edge of Extinction First Impressions
Hello!
Welcome to Survivor: Edge of Extinction recaps here on the #BookSquadGoals blog! To kick things off for season 38 of Survivor, here is a quick rundown of who we will meet this season.
This season the survivors start off in two separate tribes, Manu and Kama. Let’s see who we think will be the last one standing in Fiji (or a Burbank studio with island-themed decorations)!
Read moreFull-On Dumpster Fyre: Breaking Down the Fyre Festival Documentaries
The week of January 14, I was anxiously awaiting the new Netflix documentary, Fyre, set to debut that Friday the 18th. But the Hulu gods helped me out and sneaky-dropped their own documentary, Fyre Fraud, four days before Netflix’s scheduled release of Fyre. Obviously, I watched it that night. My only complaint about the whole situation is that I couldn’t watch them back to back because, honestly, I could not get enough of this mess. I still can’t get enough, so here I am, forcing Mary to talk about both documentaries with me. (Spoilers for both documentaries to follow.)
